Biography

Joab Horn was born about 1807, probably in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. His parents are not known. He is found in trees on other sites with a variety of parents with no evidence.

He first appears in the 1830 census, living in Edgecombe County with another male about the same age, possibly a brother. In 1840 he was living alone.

He soon moved to Sumner County, Tennessee, where he married Peninah P. Daughtrey on 27 December 1842 She was about 20 years younger than he.

He and Peninah had children:

1. Joel Horn, born about 1844;
2. Columbus Cofield Horn, Sr., born about 1853;
3. Mary K. Horn, born about 1857;
4. Rufus E. Horn, born about 1862.

Joab died after the 1880 census.
