John E. Horn was born about 1795, probably in North Carolina.
John married Nancy Poteet (born about 1795; daughter of Edward Ned Poteet and Martha Jemima (Criswell) Poteet) on January 11, 1824 in Lauderdale, Alabama, United States. [1] Their known children were:
- Rutha A. Horne (1824–1900)
- William Manuel Horn (1826–Deceased)
- Mary Elizabeth Horne (1828–1878)
- Anderson Horn (1833–1864)
- Willis R Horn (1836–1926)
In the 1840 census John was in Lawrence, Tennessee, United States.[2]
John was in a pension record.[3]
Research Notes
John is thought to be a brother of Thomas Horn (abt.1804-abt.1840).
Some believe John's parents were James Horn (1776-1815) and Elizabeth Price (1775-1833). Others believe his parents were William Horn (1776-1815) and Nancy Holland (1775-1833).
Lauderdale County, Alabama is just south of Lawrence County, Tennessee.
There was an estate sale for John Horne's estate in 1848. The administrator of the estate was Willis Hammonds.
