"Miss Hattie Hopkins, a young lady of pleasing appearance is the prima donna soprano of the company. Miss Hopkins has a voice of divine sweetness with power enough to enable her to beheard in a theatre of any size. She is the most promising young singer I have listened to since the Black Patti." as mentioned in an Indianapolis Freeman review dated October 25, 1902. Review for In Dahomery, reviewed by Sylvestter Russell, Grand Opera House, Brooklyn, New York.
Hattie was born as Hattie Hopkins (probably in Jacksonville, Florida). When she married Noah Thompson in 1929, she used the name Hattie Hopkins-Moore. The marriage register lists her as Hettie Moore. It seems that she might have gotten married prior to Noah Thompson and that is where "Moore" comes from.
He official stage name was Hattie Hopkins.
She has a brother named Willie H Hopkins b. 1881
I found no record of Hattie's last name being Upton although that is what she is named on her husband's WikiPedia page. Her first found record--1880 census--shows her as Hattie Hopkins.
