Biography

James was born in 1856, the son of William Hogan and Mary Gunby.[1][2]

He married Mary Estella Smalley 24 Sep 1878 in Lincoln County, GA.[3] They had the following children:

  1. Emmie Virginia (Hogan) Ashley (1879-1943)
  2. Annie Florence (Hogan) Gunby (1882-1951)
  3. Clara Belle Hogan (1886-1945)
  4. Patrick Mell Hogan (1889-1918)
  5. Sallie Jane (Hogan) Ashley (1891-1974)
  6. Berta Lee (Hogan) Gunby (1895-1979)
  7. George Hugh Hogan (1897-1928)
  8. Nettie Lou (Hogan) Bross (1900-1966)

He passed away in 1938.[1] He was buried at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincoln County, GA.[4]
