William Hitchings was born in 1791 at Machias, Washington, Maine. He was the son of Josiah Hitchings and Sarah Harris.[1] He passed away in 1826 at Pensacola, Escambia, Florida, and is commemorated on his wife’s headstone at St Stephen Rural Cemetery, Saint Stephen, Charlotte County, New Brunswick (the cemetery was established in 1856).[2] William married, 19 Jan 1819, Lucretia Bond (~1793-1851).[3]

The following children were all mentioned in the 1830 Last Will and Testament of their grandfather Josiah Hitchings, as was their mother, Lucretia Hitchings.[4]
