Christine Henriette was born on 21 November 1717 in Schloss (Castle) Rotenburg, the youngest of ten children of Ernest Leopold, Landgrave of Hesse-Rotenburg and Countess Eleonore von Löwenstein-Rochefort, his consort. On 4 May 1740 Christine was wed to Luigi Vittorio di Savoia (English: Louis Victor of Savoy). The next year her husband succeeded to the title Prince de Carignan, the seigneury of Carignano having belonged to the House of Savoy since 1418.
Princess Christine Henriette died at Palazzo Carignano in Torino (Turin) on the night of 31 August – 1 September 1778, less than three months before her consort passed away.
