Pince of Carignano. Vittorio Amedeo di Savoia (English: Victor Amadeus of Savoy) was born on 31 Oct 1743 in Torino (Turin) to Luigi Vittorio di Savoia (Louis Victor of Savoy) and his wife Christine von Hesse-Rotenburg, He was their second child and eldest son. As a male line descendant of the Duke of Savoy, he was a Prince of Savoy by birth. He was named after his cousin King Vittorio Amedeo III di Sardegna (Victor Amadeus of Sardinia). Upon his father's death, Vittorio became Prince of Carignano. On 18 Oct 1768 at Oulx, Vittorio Amedeo wed Princess Joséphine de Lorraine, daughter of Louis de Lorraine, Prince of Brionne and Louise de Rohan, who bore him one child, Carlo Emanuele. Prince Vittorio Amedeo di Savoia died on 10 Sep 1780 and was buried at the Basilica of Superga.
