Biography

Alice Hayward was a daughter of Rowland Hayward, Knt., Lord Mayor of London, by Katherine Smythe.^[1]

Alice was a beneficiary of the will of her grandmother, Alice (Judde) Smythe, the will made on 10 Jul 1592.^[2]

She married Sir Richard Buller^[3] and had twelve children:

• Julian, wife of Bernard Tanner
• Alice, wife of George Kekewich
• Mary
• Maria
• Thomasine, wife of Josias Calmady

Richard Buller acknowledged in 1601 that his wife’s fortune of £1563 17s 6d had been fully paid to him.^[4]

In the Buller Pedigree in the Visitation of Cornwall in 1620 nine children of Alice and Richard were recorded, namely: Francis, George, Richard, John, Anthony, Catherine, Julian, Alice and Mary.^[5]

Alice was living at the time of her husband's death in 1647.
