Biography

Colburn was a son of Ebenezer Hartshorn and Lydia Darling. He married Elizabeth "Betsy" a daughter of Levi Fay and Elizabeth Hudson.

"The progenitor of the Lunenburg, Essex County, Hartshorns, nearly all of the Hartshorn of Lunenburg, Vermont are decendents to him. "He lived in Lunenburg, Essex, Vermont for most of his life he owned and operated a farm once owned by his wife's father. The farm house still stands today and is one of the oldest houses in Lunenburg" (Derick Sibley Hartshorn, III, The Hartshorn Families in America)

His brother Bradley married his wife Betsy's sister Katherine Fay. Colburn and Betsy had eleven children, all sons.
