Research Notes

Think poorly of me if you wish, but I am not yet prepared to unnecessarily labor to provide source citations for relationships readily and freely available elsewhere. I will be documenting the few relationships where I have unique and valuable source info (primarily DNA). If you truly need them, feel free to ask for my other sources. At this stage, I have merely added the ancestors in each line needed to connect to existing Wiki profiles.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Rand: Have you taken a test? If so, login to add it. If not, see our friends at Ancestry DNA.

Welcome Rand, and thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration, and Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

Thank you for adding a GEDCOM. The GEDCOM does not automatically populate your tree it generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through either accepting or rejecting all suggested matches, once that has been done, you add any remaining names manually

The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

For those using Chrome, Opera, or Firefox browsers, there is a tool that can help with the formatting of profiles that have been created through GEDCOM, so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Happy tree climbing

Karen ~ WikiTree Greeter
