Biography

Richard was born in 1830. He was the son of Richard Crawshay Hall and Mary Ann Wade.

He was baptised on 13 July 1830 at St Mary's, Plympton.

He attended the Tonbridge School in 1842. Spent his career as a military officer, from 1847 in the 38th Foot and thereafter the 13th Foot, reaching the rank of Captain in 1855. He served in the Crimean War and was at the siege and fall of Sebasotpol. He retired from the army in 1869.

Captain was the highest rank he acquired and by which he is referred to in the announcement of his death. His promotions were as follows: Ensign, 31 Dec 1847; Lieutenant, 11 Dec 1849; Captain, 15 May 1855.

On 6 July 1852 Richard Morgan Hall and Louisa Mary Mant were married at the church of St Thomas A Becket in Box, Wiltshire.

He passed away on 6 October 1882 at 15 Beaufort-Buildings East, Bath, Somerset, aged 52.
