Mrs. John Allen
Mrs. Elizabeth Hall Allen, widow of John Allen, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 1940, at her home at No. 9 Ray Street, following a long illness.
She was born on the Hall homestead in Clarendon on February 5, 1854 a daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Colbourne Hall and on March 5, 1875, was married there to Allen, also of Clarendon. They continued to reside in that town until 1898 when they purchased the home on Ray Street. Mr. Allen passed away on November 29, 1935.
Mrs. Allen was a member of the Holley Baptist Church and a charter member of Charity Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by four daughters. Mrs. Eva Inman of Holley, Mrs. Ray Darch of Byron and Mrs. Rose Butcher and Mrs. G. Herbert Keople of Clarendon; three sons, Edward and John of Clarendon and Roy of Rochester; seven grandchildren, Allen Darch of Byron, Mrs. Harold Smalley of Holley, and Charles Butcher, Miss Jane Keople, Mrs. Kenneth Kemp, Miss Ann Allen and Edward John Allen, all of Clarendon, and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, George W. Hall of Clarendon.
Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in Hillside Cemetery.
