The entire community was shocked by the sudden death of Mrs. William H. Inman, who passed away in her sleep early Sunday morning, December 17, 1944, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gordon at 26 Ray Street, where she was staying temporarily. She had apparently been in her usual health.
Born in Clarendon on August 5, 1876, Eva May Allen was a daughter of John E. and Elizabeth Hall Allen, and had always lived in this vicinity.
In 1904, she was married to William H. Inman of Clarendon whose death occurred on January 10, 1920. Following his death she came to Holley to reside and purchased a home on Geddes Street.
She was a member of the Holley Baptist Church, of Sprague Chapter, O.E.S., and the Lawrence Fellowship Class.
She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ray Darch, Mrs. Rose Butcher and Mrs. G. H. Keople, all of Clarendon; three nephews [sic], Edward Allen and John Allen of Clarendon and Roy Allen of Rochester; four nieces, Mrs. Harold B. Smalley, Miss Arlene Jane Keople, Mrs. Kenneth Kemp, and Mrs. John MeKelvey, and three nephews, Allen Darch, Charles Butcher and Edward Allen Jr.
Of a friendly and sympathetic nature, her kindly deeds will be long remembered by those to whom she had extended a helping hand in time of trouble, and she will be especially mourned by the little folks who found her always ready to solve their small problems.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Holley Baptist Church, the pastor Rev. J. Newland Pfaff officiating with interment in Hillside Cemetery.
