Biography

Mary Lilian Hagan was born in 1886 in Patrick's Plain, New South Wales, Australia to Thomas Henry Hagan and Elizabeth Reynolds.

Her father passed away in Greta, Singleton, Australia in 1905. At some point thereafter, she moved to New Zealand, likely with her mother Elizabeth and brother Charles.

By 1911, she was living on Raynor's Road, Huntly, New Zealand with her widowed mother.^[1] In 1914, they were living on Arney Street, Paeroa.^[2] She moved out from her mother's to Paeroa Hotel by 1919 and was still living there in 1922.^[3][4] She lived at Crosby's Hotel, Paeroa by 1925,^[5] and was still living there in 1928^[6] and 1931.^[7] By 1935, she was living in Tahuna, Morrinsville where her brother Charles also lived.^[8]

Near the end of her life, Mary was unmarried and living on Tahuna-Ohinewai Road, Tahuna, Morrinsville. She passed away on 16 October 1937 at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand. Mary's funeral was held on 18 October 1937 at the Catholic Church, Morrinsville and she was buried at Old Piako Cemetery, Block II, Plot 10.

• Death certificate 1937/15478 will provide definite proof of the connection (i.e. to mother Thomas Henry Hagan and mother Elizabeth Reynolds), although the sources are pretty conclusive already
