Biography

James Hackett was born in 1823 in Ireland, the son of Jane Hackett (nee Glanville) and Thomas Hackett.^[1][2]

In 1858 he was working as a Victorian public servant in Victoria, Australia.^[3]

He married Mary Ann Thompson in 1855 in Victoria.^[1][4] Their children were:^[1]

• Eliza Jane Hackett (1856–?)^[5]
• James Thompson Hackett (1858–1924)^[6]
• Catherine Maria Hackett (1860–1860)^[7]
• Joseph Hackett (1862–1862)^[8]

Mary died in 1862.^[9]

James married Caroline Bolton on 19 November 1863 at Wesley Church on Lonsdale Street in Melbourne, Victoria.^[2][10][11] Their children were:

• Fossey Bolton Hackett (1865–1891)^[12]
• Caroline Matilda Hackett (1870–1931)^[13]

Caroline died in December 1870.^[11]

James married Emma Gluyas Pascoe in 1871.^[14] Their children were:^[15]

• Emma Gluyas "Amy" Hackett (1873–1958)^[16]
• Edwin Gluyas Hackett (1877?–1959)^[17]

James died in 1878 in Ireland.^[1]
