Caroline Bolton (married name Hackett) was born around 1835 in Wexford, Ireland, the daughter of Fossey Bolton and Mary Anne Nixon Johnston.^[1]

She married widower James Hackett on 19 November 1863 at Wesley Church on Lonsdale Street in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.^[1][2][3][4] Their children were:

• Fossey Bolton Hackett (1865–1891)^[5]
• Caroline Matilda Hackett (1870–1931)^[6]

Caroline died on 31 December 1870 at her home, 2 Gaol Terrace, Swanston Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, aged 35.^[1][4]
