Biography

Mary was born on 17 May 1780 in Augusta County, Virginia. She is the daughter of Windle Grove Anna Bright.

Bond written on 20 Dec 1796 for marriage to William G Kerr that occurred on 22 Dec 1796. It was a Presbyterian wedding performed by Minister Archibald Scott at Bethel Presbyterian Church.

She passed away on 27 Mar 1867 and is buried at the Shemariah Church Cemetery Summerdean, Augusta County, Virginia, Plot ? row 12.

I, profile manager, had the opportunity to visit the Shemariah Church Cemetery in Oct 2023. The church still stands but is being converted to a private home. The cemetery is well kept. Her stone (see images) is still clearly legible. Then, when going to the cemetery where her husband is buried (about 10 minutes away), his stone is no longer there.
