Biography

Elwood Lindley Green was the son of Isaiah Green (1840-1909) and Julia Ann Hott (1845-1881), who were married on 3 Jan 1865 in Pickaway County, Ohio. He had five siblings; Emma Jane 1865, Daisey Florence 1872, George Milton 1874, Sarah A 1877 and Anna May 1879.

Residence in 1870 was in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois.^[1]

When Elwood was age 15, his mother, Julia Ann, died on 4 March 1881, probably in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois.

Elwood and Margaret Poor were married on 13 March 1887 in Macon County, Illinois.^[3] She was the daughter of James M. Poor (1846–1909) and Nancy Luanna Clark (1848–1880).

They had three children; Francis Marion 1887, Leroy Elwood 1890 and Earl Ernest 1892.

His wife, Margaret, died 6 August 1892. Earl Ernest was two weeks old and was adopted out to John W. Brewer (1852–1933) and Lucy Ann Shook (1861–1933). This couple had been married since 1880 and had no children. Leroy Elwood went to live with his mother's parents, James M. Poor (1846–1909) and Nancy Luanna Clark (1848–1880).

Elwood was married to Catherine Whule on 27 January 1895 in Macon County, Illinois.^[4] They had one daughter, Gertrude 1896.

Elwood Lindley Green died on 8 January 1896 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois. His burial was in the Spangler Cemetery at Decatur, Macon County, Illinois.^[5][6]
