Biography

Margaret Gray was born on 15 NOV 1863 at Broughton Creek, NSW to William Gray and Mary Ann Irvine.

She married Edward Alexander Thompson in 1885 at Parramatta NSW.

After the death of her first husband, Margaret later married Frederick Henry Bemish at Nowra NSW on 15 OCT 1891.

Margaret passed away on 25 AUG 1940 in the Bellingen Hospital, at the age of 76. She is buried in the Bellingen General Cemetery.

OBITUARY

Mrs. F. Bemish

The death occurred in Bellingen Hospital last Sunday week of Mrs F. Bemish, of Hyde's Creek at the age of 78 years. With her husband, deceased was among the earliest settlers at Hyde’s Creek. Mr Bemish is now 98 years of age, and still hearty. They have resided on Hyde's Creek for about 40 years, and have been highly respected by all who knew them. Deceased had an attack of measles about a fortnight prior to her death. Heart trouble supervened-and ended fatally. Previously she had had remarkably good health and it is stated to be the first time in her life that she consulted a doctor. Besides the husband, three sons and four daughters survive. The sons are Messrs. Allan Bemish (Hydes Creek), James Bemish (Coffs Harbour) and Ted Bemish (Queensland). Mesdames Reid (Bellingen), wife of Mr. J. G. Reid, Coffs Harbour and Bellingen, Les Fredericks (Coffs Harbour), Arthur Gordon (Coffs Harbour) and Chas. Baldwin (Cascade) are the daughters. Mrs. A. Gray, of Woolgoolga, is a sister of deceased.
