Thomas Graves was born on 23 October 1725, and christened in Antony, Cornwall on 2 December 1725[1]. He was the son of Thomas Graves and Elizabeth Budgell.
Thomas married Elizabeth Williams in Ottery Saint Mary, Devon on 22 June 1771[2].
He was created 1st Lord Graves, Baron of Gravesend, co. Londonderry [Ireland] on 24 October 1794. He gained the rank of Admiral of the White in 1795.

According to the Midweek Herald 27 July 2022 pg 17 for East Devon Admiral Blake lived at combe Raleigh and was Nelson's second in command at the Battle of Copenhagen. Combe Raleigh is on the northern side of Honiton.
Nelson's second in command at the Battle of Copenhagen on the 2nd April 1801 was my gt.gt.gt. uncle, Rear Admiral Graves, (later Admiral Sir Thomas Graves, see WikiTree Graves-6533), he had built Woodbine Hill at Combe Raleigh on the top of an existing farmhouse and he was a nephew of Admiral Samuel Graves ( 1713-1787) of Hembury Fort House and a cousin of the above Admiral Lord Thomas Graves (1725-1802).
