Burial

Joseph Graton was buried on 4 April 1703 in the cemetery of Lachenaye (Lachenaie), where he had been resident. The record gives him 31 years of age.[5]

Notes

One does wonder where he was living after his mother died. There was an inventory of property done after her death, said inventory completed on 9 June 1674. On 22 July 1674 there was a sale of the property of the minor children of Claude Graton dit Villefort and the late Marguerite Montion.[2] He is not found on 1681 census, neither with Mathurine Graton and her husband Pierre Toupin in Beauport, nor with his sister Hélène married to Noël Costé on Île d'Orléans (Comté de St-Laurent).[6] Pierre Toupin was the trustee for the minor children of Claude Graton and Marguerite Moncion, and gave an accounting of his trusteeship in March 1697 before notary Louis Chambalon.[2]

Graton-1 and Gratton-18 appear to represent the same person because: this is the same man, wife etc. Should be merged into Graton-1 as that was the initial spelling

Gratton-18 and Graton-29 appear to represent the same person because: They appear to be the same person with same parents. I would go with the Graton name since the http://genealogiequebec.info/testphp/info.php?no=2934 and the original French notary writing uses Claude Graton, sieur de Villefort, ancêtre des Graton (Gratton) d'Amérique.
