Biography

Archibald Johnston Graham was born at Greenock^[1] on 19th October 1840^[2], to John Graham and Jean nee Johnston. He was baptised on 8th November at Sir Michael Street Relief Presbyterian church.^[3]

In 1841 their residence in Dalrymple Street, Greenock, shows Archibald at 7 months, with a Mary Graham(2), John Graham(4), Jane[sic] Graham(20) and Agnes Johnston(20) - these last having their ages potentially rounded down at this census)^[2].

By 1851 his widowed mother Jane is the head of the house, (which is now 9, Market Street) and he is joined by his grandparents Archibald and Mary Johnston.^[1]

In 1861 the remains of the family are at East Shaw Street, Greenock. Archibald is now a cooper.^[4]

New Zealand

Archibald married Jane Boon Mason on 4 June 1868 at Dunedin.

In 1901 his daughter's first wedding took place at his home in North-East Valley, Dunedin. At the time he was a tea-dealer.

He passed away on 6th September 1905^[5][6], and was buried at Dunedin Northern Cemetery^[7].
