Sir Charles Mathew Goring, 5th Bt. was born on 15 May 1706. He was the son of Sir Harry Goring, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Mathew. He was baptised on 26 May 1706 at St. James' Church, Westminster, London, England. He married, firstly, Mary Blackburn, daughter of William Blackburn, on 15 July 1731 at St. Paul's Cathedral, The City, London, England. He married, secondly, Elizabeth Fagge, daughter of Sir Robert Fagge, 3rd Bt. and Christian Bishopp, on 20 April 1743 at Wiston, Sussex, England. He died on 31 August 1769 at age 63. He was buried on 2 September 1769 at Wiston, Sussex, England. His will was proven (by probate) on 2 September 1769 at Chichester, Sussex, England.
He matriculated at Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 4 May 1725. He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Bowyer, of Highden, Sussex [E., 1678] on 12 November 1731. His last will was dated 5 May 1768.
