Biography

Alice Goodspeed

There are several Robert Seabrooks of the correct age to be the husband of Alice Goodspeed. We have no proof of which known Robert or unknown Robert was her husband.

Robert Seabrook the husband of Alice Goodspeed was not the New England immigrant.

Alice, daughter of Nicholas Goodspeed, was baptized 19 Aug 1576.[1][2]

A Robert Seabrook married 12 Sept 1596, at Wingrave, Buckingham, England, Alice Goodspeed.[1][3] Nicholas Godsped named Robert as son-in-law in his will dated 20 Jan 1605/6. Alice is not mentioned, but Robert's children are left 12d each.[1]

The children of Robert baptized in Wingrave.[4]

  1. Thomas bpt 26 March 1598
  2. John bpt 16 March 1599/1600
  3. Elizabeth bpt 6 March 1602/3
  4. Robert bpt 24 March 1604/5

Note

Re: Project protection and Connecticut project. This person was probably never in Connecticut, but needs to be project protected. She is frequently confused with a Connecticut person, the wife of Robert the immigrant

New information on the Robert Seabrooks has been published in Connecticut Ancestry [West, Randy A. FASG "The Probable English Origin of Robert 1 Seabrook of Stratford, Connecticut." Connecticut Ancestry. Vol. 64, No. 3 February 2022. pp 81-84.]

Alice Goodspeed was married to a different Robert Seabrook. I will be reworking her profile a little, Then disconnecting her from this Robert and the children attached to her and putting her in her proper context.

Goodspeede-10 and Goodspeed-50 appear to represent the same person because: Same person married a Robert Seabrook, but we don't know it's the one who went to New England

There is no proof that Alice Goodspeed married this Robert Seabrook. We don't even know the first name of the immigrant Roberts wife. She is being disconnected and merged with a previous profile.

Since we have no proof of which Robert married Alice or which children were hers. For the sake of genealogical accuracy I plan on disconnecting Faith, Ruth, Mary Kimberly, Emma Faith, Johanna Faith, Elizabeth. the children bapt in Tring will be marked as uncertain.
