António Francisco Gomez Carvajal was born about 1848 in Atarfe, Spain.[1][2] He was the son of Francisco Eugenio Gomez Moreno and Maria Dolores Carvajal Delgado.[2]

António married Servanda "Silvanda" Romero Martin on the 30th of May 1874 in Albolote, Granada.[2][3] António was twenty-six when they married. Their daughter Minnie was born in Atarfe on the 16th of February 1899.[4]

António migrated aboard the Ascot to Hawai'i with his family, arriving on the 4th of June 1913.[5] He was sixty-five years old, his wife was fifty-seven.[5] Their son Juan Gomez Romero was denied entry, while Minnie (age fourteen) was admitted.[5]

Sources

  1. His marriage record was in Albolote, a town neighboring Atarfe. He could have been born in either town. The record says he was born in the neighborhood, so possibly Albolote. António was twenty-six when he married, so the birth estimate of 1848 matches the estimate based on the ship manifest.
