François Godé migrated from France to New France.

The first child of Nicolas Godé and Françoise Gadois, François Godé was baptised on March 3, 1621 in Igé's Saint-Martin church located in France's Séez diocese and ancient Perche province,^{[3][4][5][6][7]}

In 1641, François emigrated to New France with his parents and the rest of the family.^[8][9][10] François and three younger siblings (Françoise, Nicolas and Mathurine) were the first children to make the voyage to settle at Fort Ville-Marie.^[11][1][12] Having wintered at Québec, the family travelled with Paul de Chomedey, Sieur de Maisonneuve for the 1642 founding of the settlement of Ville-Marie, the Godé family becoming the first family with teenagers to take residence there.^[13] The Godé family joined the family of François Godé's uncle and aunt, Pierre Gadois and Louise Mauger, and their children, Roberte Gaudois and Pierre Gaudois. who had emigrated to Québec in 1636, establishing themselves more definitively at Montréal in 1648.^[8][14]

Like his father, he was a master woodworker.

Le 11 janvier 1649 à Notre-Dame de Montréal, François Godé, fils de Nicolas Godé et de Françoise Gadois, épouse Françoise Bugon, de parents défunts (texte latin: functis parentibus), en présence de Gilbert Barbier dit Nivernais et Jeanne Mance, Jean Dequen prêtre célébrant.^[16]

Having signed on November 11, 1648 at Montréal a marriage contract notarized by Jean de Saint-Père (the contract included a donation from de Maisonneuve and it was cancelled a few days later), he married Françoise Bugon, born about 1628, a native of Clermont-Ferrand in Auvergne, on January 11, 1649 at Montréal's Notre-Dame church.^[3][18][19] The marriage was childless.

On ne connait pas la date de décès de François Godé, Françoise fut marraine d'une fille amérindienne le 13 février 1651 à Montréal, elle y est citée son épouse alors et non sa veuve.^[20] Deux actes notariaux le nomment subséquemment, le dernier en date du 30 septembre 1658.

François died before September 7th, 1667, when his wife entered into a new marriage contract.

This was the era of continuous small attacks on the colony by the Iroquois, many people disappear without a trace then.^[21]

There is also the possibility that he died in France, Marcel Trudel's reconstituted 1666 census deems that he and his wife were absent from that census because of having gone to France. The 1658 procuration from his mother (listed Françoise Godays in the summary) would need to be found to ascertain whether it charged him with a particular commission in France or not.
