Biography

Birth

Albert Frank Goding was born at Livermore, Maine, on 31 Mar 1862, the son of Benjamin Franklin Goding and Sarah B. (Sturtevant) Goding.^[1] In 1870, he was living with his parents at Livermore at the age of 8.^[2] In 1880, he was living at Livermore with his uncle John B. Goding at Livermore and working as a farm laborer.^[3]

Marriage

The 1906 Goding genealogy says that Albert F. Goding married Hattie M. Spaulding on 2 Feb 1889.^[1] However, on 25 Jan 1887, Albert F. Goding and Hattie M. Spaulding, both of Livermore, Maine, published at Livermore their intention to marry,^[4] and the 1900 Census says they had been married for 13 years.^[5] It is likely that they married at Livermore on 2 Feb 1887 and that the year shown in the Goding genealogy is a typographical error.

Children

Albert and Hattie (Spaulding) Goding were the parents of seven children, all probably born at Livermore, Maine, and all listed with the years in which they were born (except for the unnamed infant, for whom only a death date is shown) in the 1928 history of Livermore.^[6] The second Perley, Walter, Clyde, and Floyd are listed in the 1906 Goding genealogy, with birth dates,^[1] but the birth dates of Perley and Clyde shown there are contradicted by the 1900 Census, which shows Perley, Walter, and Clyde living in their parents' household, with the months and years of their births.^[5] See the children's profiles for additional information and sources.

Death

The gravestone of Albert F. Goding at the Waters Hill Cemetery in Livermore, Maine, is inscribed with the dates 31 Mar 1862 and 30 Jul 1940.^[7]
