On 16 June 2000 Charles (age 73) was employed as a Englsh professor, English department assistant chairman.[3]

    • Charles H. Glendinning Ph.D., 73, 312 Meadville St., Edinboro, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at his home.

    • He was born in Trenton, N.J., May 2, 1927, son of the late Henry and Viola Phillips Glendinning.

    • He served with the U.S. Navy as a radarman during World War II, then worked for Westinghouse. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in English from the University of Missouri, then received his doctorate from Ohio's Case Western Reserve University.

    • He was an English professor at Edinboro University and served as the department's assistant chairman. He retired after 37 years.

    • He was a member of the AARP and enjoyed collecting antiques and books, gardening and attending auctions.

    • He was preceded in death by his wife, Alva Anderson Glendinning, in 1983.

    • Survivors include his son, David Glendinning and his wife, Joan, of Edinboro; four grandchildren, Aurora Maya and Christopher, Bibiana and Darius Miller; and two great-grandchildren.

    • There will be no calling hours. A Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 128 Sunset Drive, Edinboro, officiated by the Rev. John Jacquel. A memorial will also be held at 11 a.m. at the Newman Center, Darrow Road, officiated by the Rev. Mark Nowak.

    • Burial was private.

    • Arrangements were handled by Glunt Funeral Home Inc., 210 Erie St., Edinboro.
