I started working on my family tree in the 1990's and have never stopped working on it. My ancestors are a mishmash - Mayflower passengers, slaveholders, a dozen or so Filles du Roi, a family who fled from Scotland after a scandal, a free man of color who fought with Francis "The Swamp Fox" Marion, survivors of the Deerfield Massacre, and lots and lots and lots of farmers.
These days, I'm far more interested in other people's branches. Almost all of my time is spent working for WikiTree's US Black Heritage Project; I'm a Project Coordinator of the USBH Notables project, and a USBH PATH Guide.
When I'm not puzzling over genealogy, I'm working with my husband to restore our 250-year-old house to its pre-Constitution-era glory. Oh, and, working on the genealogy of the Scots-Irish family who first "owned" the property we now live on.
When I shuffle off this mortal coil, I would like all of the profiles that are of direct ancestors and their descendants to be entrusted to the care of the WikiTree Team and/or my husband Nathan Schmidt, and/or my cousin Ginny Winslett, if she wants any of the Weathers-related profiles. Any non-family profiles with a privacy level of OPEN can be orphaned.
This week's featured connections are American Founders: Kate is 15 degrees from John Hancock, 14 degrees from Francis Dana, 20 degrees from Bernardo de Gálvez, 14 degrees from William Foushee, 18 degrees from Alexander Hamilton, 15 degrees from John Francis Hamtramck, 14 degrees from John Marshall, 16 degrees from George Mason, 17 degrees from Gershom Mendes Seixas, 14 degrees from Robert Morris, 15 degrees from Sybil Ogden and 15 degrees from George Washington on our single family tree. You created 4,525 profiles during the 2023 USBH Connecting Challenge! Your support of the USBH Project is greatly appreciated.
A new USBH notable for you.
While updating some profiles today, I happened to see a Name I recognized from another hobby, old tools and woodworking, I checked wikitree and he was not here, but he is now. Ceasor Chelor or Chelor-1 and I am happy he is first in the family name.
Believe it or not the Source A Thon is just around the corner. Look for sign ups to happen in a couple of weeks.

Also, although I am pretty "white" my family is rooted in the Bahamas and I take interest in the accomplishments of Bahamians, there are many for a small country. I start bios for notable Bahamians regardless of race. I have several other bios that may be of interest to you. Can you please pm me with you email address so I can go through bios I manage and suggest a few to you?

I didn't know how to reach you, but I noticed you are working with USBH Notables, I think Helen Elsie Austin fits into this categroy. https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Austin-15847&errcode=saved. I hope she can be added. Also, my husband's family claims John Howland as an ancestor, if he is the one who fell off the boat. Bev Enslow (Felty-296)

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.
If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Kate and Marsha are 12th cousins once removed
Kate (Gardner) Schmidt and Marsha (Cramer) Baker are both descendants of Emlyn (Weeks) Mitchell (abt.1550-1628).
Pretty new to this but I find it very interesting.
