Emily was born in 1838 in Ramsgate, Kent, England and was baptised there on June 24th at St George's Church. She is the daughter of John Forwood and Susan Fuggle.[1][2]

At the age of about 34, Emily departed the port of Liverpool, England aboard the ship Moravian and arrived in the port of Balitmore, Maryland, USA on October 14, 1872. [10]
She married Jacob Keagy on June 30, 1876 in Staunton, Augusta, Virginia. He was 33 years old, single and his parents were listed as John R. Kagey and Barbara Miller. The bride was 37, single, born Ramsgate, Kent, England and her parents were listed as Jno. Forwood and Susan Fugles. The ceremony was performed by Charles Mauly.[11]

Emily died at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 21 days on September 19, 1928 in St Petersburg, Pinellas, Florida and was buried there on September 20th in Greenwood Cemetery. She was widowed, a retired school teacher and her address was 535 10th St. No. Cause of death was senility duration 2 years.[14]

Her Florida death certificate states that her date of birth was May 20, 1838 but the person giving information had no idea exactly where she was born and no idea who either of her parents were so it's questionable whether they knew her exact DOB - because of all that, her year of birth has been used on its own in her bio.
