The following obituary was published in the South Australian newspaper, The Observer, on 15 October 1927:[7]
Mr. Robert Albert Ford, whose death occurred at Geelong on October 7, was widely known on Yorke's Peninsula. He was born at Kapunda in April, 1884. His father, the late Mr. John Ford, was then farming near Kapunda. The railway station, "Fords," is named after the homestead. Mr. Robert Ford began as an auctioneer and land agent at Minlaton about 30 years ago, and worked up a large business, which Messrs. Bagot, Shakes, and Lewis purchased. The services of Mr. Ford were retained as manager. Mr. Ford contested a seat for Yorke's Peninsula in the House of Assembly, but failed to secure election, and afterwards declined requisitions to nominate again. After leaving Minlaton he purchased a property at Mitcham, formerly owned by Mr. Brookman and now the home of Mr. A. C. Catt. During Mr. Ford's ownership he had the large holding subdivided and sold as building sites. He left South Australia about seven years ago and went to Geelong, his sight having begun to fail. He remained a director of Cresco Fertilizing Company, and in that capacity visited Adelaide a few weeks ago. In 1910 (sic) he was married to Miss Isabel Hart of Moonee Ponds, Victoria. He has left a widow and two daughters.
