Elizabeth "Eliza" Martha FLOWERS was born in 1808 in Hancock, Georgia, the daughter of Elizabeth and Edward. She married Seaborn J. CULVER and they had four children together. She died on March 24, 1885, in Troup, Georgia, having lived a long life of 77 years.

After the death of her husband Seaborn in 1829, Elizabeth with 4 young children married Josiah Benson the following year in Troup Co, GA, and they had eight children together. The children of the first marriage to Seaborn do not show up in the census until 1850 for Troup County, Georgia.

Jim Culver Note: A curiosity to me is that her daughter Susan's photo is obviously taken in front of a painted background. Eliza's photo has the same background. So, it was probably taken in the same studio, and possibly before daughter Susan died in 1869.

In 1830 Elizabeth is listed as head of household in Hancock Co., GA. Her husband Seaborn died the previous December. In Dec 1831 she married Joseph Benson. In 1840 the family of Josiah Benson was living in Troup Co., GA. Dist.698
