Private Elijah Fisher served with 4th Massachusetts Regiment (1777), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

On 5 May 1775, Elijah Fisher enlisted in Captain Moses Knapp’s Company, 12th Regiment of Massachusetts Infantry, commanded by Colonel James Reed. On his 17th birthday, 18 Jun 1775, he and his regiment saw action at Breed’s (Bunker) Hil.
After the battle of White Plains, on 27 Nov 1776, Elijah was discharged as being ill. He recovered his health, and reenlisted for three years on 7 Jan 1777, again in Captain Knapp’s Company, but in the newly formed 4th Massachusetts Regiment, commanded by Colonel William Sherpard. With this unit of the Continental Line, Elijah saw action at the engagement at Stillwater, New York.
From 19 May 1778 until his discharge on 6 Jan 1780, Elijah Keen served as a member of the personal guard of General George Washington. He reenlisted on 10 Oct 1780, for six months, and served in the 8th company, 1st Massachusetts Regiment of the Continental Line, commanded by Colonel Benjamin Tupper. On 15 Dec 1780, while serving in this regiment he was promoted to first sergeant. With his six month enlisted over, he was discharged on 10 Apr 1781. [2]
Elijah Fisher kept a journal during his time in the Army, and a portion of that has been transcribed and is available on the website of the Sons of Liberty Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, from which the above information is taken.[3]

On 18 Nov 1785, Elijah Fisher and Jerusha Keen published at Turner, Maine (then in Massachusetts) their intention to marry, and they married there on 14 Dec 1785.[4]
Residence
Elijah and Jerusha Fisher moved to Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts) shortly after their marriage. They were there by 1789 and remained there for the rest of their lives.[5]
Death
Elijah Turner died at Livermore, Maine, on 28 Jan 1842,[6][7] and he is buried at the Boothby Family Cemetery in Livermore, where his gravestone shows his age at his death as 83.[8]
