Biography

Carl was born in 1904. He was the son of John Finger and Mary Blyar. Carl stayed at the family home until 1941 with his father and brother Earl, who moved out when Carl married. He married Eleanor Tabellion on the 18th of January, 1941. He worked at I.G. Harmon, as a salesman selling supplies of fertilizer for golf courses. Carl and Eleanor did not have any children.

Carl loved to garden and grew many nut trees in his small yard. At one point he had 30 butter nut trees growing in coffee cans in his back yard. He called Bob Evans Farm in southern Ohio and asked them if they wanted them. They sent a driver with a truck to pick them up, the round trip was 376 miles. He gave many small trees to his niece, and she planted them at several different houses were she lived. Carl also enjoyed wood working and would take the tube out of televisions (back when the were wooden cabinets0 and convert them into a cabinet. He also liked to make small wooden wishing wells that flowers could be planted in the bucket.

Carl took care of Eleanor for several years after her leg was amputated. After she passed away in 1984, he joined his two brothers and two sisters for a once week road trip visiting restaurants in and around Ohio. Carl passed away in 1989 and is buried with Eleanor and near his parents in North Lawn Cemetery in Canton, Ohio.
