Biography
Winnifred was born in Kapunda, South Australia during 1881. She is the daughter of Benjamin Fernie and Susan Lawrence. She passed away in North Adelaide, South Australia during 1916.
Winnifred was born in Kapunda, South Australia on 19 December 1881 to Benjamin Fernie and Susan Lawrence.[1] The following birth notice was published in the South Australian newspaper, The Kapunda Herald, on 29 December 1881:[2]
- FERNIE.—On the 19th December, at Kapunda, the wife of B. N. Fernie, of a daughter.
Winnifred married Walter Louis Schroeder in Mount Lofty, South Australia on 29 January 1915.[3] The following marriage notice was published in the South Australian newspaper, The Express and Telegraph, on 11 February 1915:[4]
- SCHROEDER—FERNIE.—On the 29th January at Mount Lofty, by the Rev. Leonard Robjohns, Walter L., younger son of the late Mr. N. E. Schroeder, Woodside, to Winnifred, younger daughter of the late Rev. B. N. Fernie, Kapunda. Home papers please copy.
Winifred died in North Adelaide, South Australia on 19 July 1916 at the age of 30 years presumably as a result of the birth of her son on 15 July 1916.[5][6] The following death notice was published in the South Australian newspaper, The Express and Telegraph, on 20 July 1916:[7]
- SCHROEDER (nee Winsome Fernie) On the 19th July, at the North Adelaide Private Hospital, Winifred Mary, beloved wife of W. L. Schroeder, schoolhouse, Meadows, (English papers please copy.)
Winnifred was buried at the Meadows Cemetery in Meadows, South Australia on 21 July 1916.[8]
