John Fegley was born during the American Civil War, circa 1863.[1] He was the son of John Fegley and Catherine Reitz of Columbia County, Pennsylvania. The family moved to Upper Mahantongo Township, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania circa 1870.
John Fegley was married to Barbara Epler in 1890.[2] The couple were parents of the following known children:
At the 1900 Census, John Fegley was working as a teamster in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania.[9] At the 1910 Census, John Fegley listed his profession as "coal miner."[10] Several of his descendants who are involved in the profession of plumbing assert that he was one of the first in the Mount Carmel area to bring indoor plumbing to households in the area.
