Obituary

HOUTZDALE _ Mrs. Maude F. Gallagher, 82, widow of W. R. Gallagher, former prothonotary of Clearfield county and secretary of the Pennsylvania Workmen's Compensation Board, died at the Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg at 5 p, m. yesterday after a short illness.

Mrs. Gallagher was born in Houtzdale July 19, 1874, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Faulk. She was married on Jan. 20, 1904, in Houtzdale to Mr. Gallagher, who died several years ago.

She had been living in Greeiisburg with a son, William, for the past three years. All of the rest ot her life was spent in Houtzdale.

Mrs. Gallagher was one of the first teachers in the Houtzdale and Brisbin school systems when they were organized years ago. She was aboul 16 when she began teaching.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, Robekah Lodge, a past matron ot the Houtzdale chaper of the Order of Eastern Star, and was a Sunday School teacher in the Houtzdale Methodist Church for many years.

Surviving here are two sons: Dr. John Gallagher, Elkins, W. Va ,William of Greensburg; daughter, Mrs, John G. Frantz, Worthington, Pa.; and six grandaughters.

Funeral services will be held from the Hayes Funeral Home tolorrow at 1 p. m., Rev. Bruce Cleaver officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Brisbin.
