Thanks so much for being part of the Toddlin' Tortoises Team for the October 2022 Source-a-Thon. Every source or citation verifying the information on a profile, helps make for a healthier Tree!
Hertyl and Spertyl Slowsky Tortoises face each other, with a large gold winner's trophy between them. Beneath the adult Tortoises are the baby Slowsky twins, Liddyll, and Iddyll, holding the words "Wonderful WikiTreer" between them, and behind the phrase, superimposed upon the trophy, is the WikiTree DNA globe icon. Beneath the entire tableau is the phrase "We're all winners in the end".

Hello, S! I see you have joined the Quaker Project- welcome!

When you joined did you see all the research information on the main Project page? https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Quakers_in_Pennsylvania#Research_Material It took me awhile to find many of the resources, so I hope this collecrion helps you. The Quaker colleges have excellent free and accessible digital colllections,, I find. Which of your lines do you know or suspect are Quaker? They seemed to migrate in groups and kept to themselves in separate communities up to a point. Each meeting has its own archive in the meeting records, so you will want to find the place and the particular meeting to which your ancestors were received. Then there is a burying ground and you will find whole families buried there- but not usually headstones until mid 1800s. The FAG list on the research page is great for that. Good luck in your search! Susan (Brett-492) the Janney line is my Quaker heritage.

Hi Susan,

Thank you for the warm welcome! :)

My Quaker heritage is through my ggreat grandmother Clara Emma Briggs (Briggs-11883) - she is descended from the Briggs and Brooke families in and around the community of Sandy Spring in Montgomery County Maryland. I've found some great records from the Sandy Spring Meeting already! Thank you for pointing me to the records and I am looking forward to learning more and hopefully breaking down a few brick walls!

Warmly, Sarah
