Johnny Fann was born in North Carolina.

Johnny, son of Samuel Adolphus Fann & Sallie Elizabeth Boyette, was born on 29 October 1919 in Black River Township, Cumberland, Cumberland, North Carolina, United States.[1][2] In the 1920 census Britton (age 0) was the son of Sam A and Sallie Fann in Cumberland, North Carolina, United States.[3] In the 1930 census Britton (age 10) was the son of Samuel and Sallie Fann in Black River, Cumberland, North Carolina, United States.[4]

Johnny was in a military record on 6 November 1940 in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, single, without dependents, having completed 2 years of high school, an occupation of tinsmiths, coppersmiths, and sheet metal worker; registering for the Army Signal Corps as a Private.[5]

By 27 Sep 1944, he and Louise W (Daniel) Fann were the parents of a child, born in Roanoke Rapids, Halifax, North Carolina. In 1950, he and his wife were separated, and Britton was living with his parents and his child (allegedly deceased).[6]

His second wife was Lucille Pollock (1929-2017),[7] the daughter of Preston Harvey Pollock of Cedar Creek, Cumberland, North Carolina. In 1963, Britton had another (living) child, in Cross Creek, Cumberland, North Carolina.

Seargent Major Johnny Britton Fann of World War II is named on a memorial in Cumberland Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina, United States with a Cumberland County death date of 29 August 2004.[7]
