Biography

Ezra Fann was born in North Carolina.

Ezra, child of S A Fann, was born on 21 July 1915 in Cumberland, North Carolina.^[1] Both parents are shown on another record, though the surname is misspelled: Ezra, son of Sam A and Mathi (sic) (Mattie) J Faun (sic) (Fann), but with the same vital information. This record also shows Sam Fann's birthplace origins as Cumberland County, and Mattie Jane Bryant's as Johnston County.^[2]

By the 1920 census, his mother Mattie Jane (Bryant) Fann was deceased and his father had remarried to Sallie Boyette.^[3]

Ezra had completed high school, remained single and found work as a commercial salesman upon joining as a Private in the Amry Air Corps in Roanoke, Virginia 20 Sep 1941.^[4] He left the service 15 Dec 1945, discharged at Randoph Field, Randolph Air Force Base, Bexar, Texas. According to a supplementary memorial stone pictured on FindAGrave,^[5] his final rank was SSGT and he served during World War II.

A couple of years after leaving the service, he married on 19 Jun 1948 in Richmond, Virginia, Donnie Ruth Lee, daughter of Arthur T and Sarah (Wilkins) Lee.^[6]

From an obituary cited on FindAGrave, he was a retired Pentecostal Holiness minister, having served 25 years, but also a Holmes College of the Bible graduate. For a time, Ezra owned Fann's Typewriters, where he was an IBM typewriter mechanic. He and his wife were married 60 years. Ezra was mentioned and vital details displayed on a memorial in Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Johnston County, North Carolina, United States with a death date of 26 November 2008.^[5]
