Biography

Ruth was born August 3, 1912 in Hochneukirch, Grevenbroich, Rhein, Prussia, Germany. She was the daughter of Victor Falkenstein and Sophie (Hähnlein) Falkenstein.^[1]

Ruth married Wilhelm Friedrich Diekhoff in 1936. After Wilhelm had been temporarily deported to Dachau in 1938, they planned to flee to Honduras via France, but didn't make it all the way. Ruth and Wilhelm were both interned in 1940 in France. They survived World War II in the French underground.^[2]

Ruth died December 31, 1994 in Privas, Ardèche, Rhône-Alpes, France.^[3] Ruth and Wilhelm are included in the JewishGen Yizkor Book for Jüchen, Germany.^[4]

However, the couple was interned in 1940 in France in 1940 and survived in the French underground.
