Biography

Victor was born in 1875 in Hochneukirch, Grevenbroich, Rhein, Prussia, Germany. He is the son of Salomon Falkenstein and Bertha (Levi) Falkenstein.[1] His Hebrew name was Yehoshua.[2]

Victor married Sophie Hähnlein, probably before 1912 (the year their first child was born) and they had at least two children[3] (see Notes).

Victor and Sofie lived in Hochneukirch, Grevenbroich, Rhein, Prussia, Germany, where he was described as either a merchant[2] or a factory owner.[4] Actually, Victor was co-owner of his father's cigar factory. He served as a soldier during the First World War and also sold Mazzen from Burgsteinfurt and was one of the co-founders of VfB Hochneukirch.[3]

Victor was deported to the Theresienstadt ghetto in Czechoslavakia July 25, 1942 from Düsseldorf.[5] Victor was designated prisoner number 406 in Transport VII/2, Tran Da 71, leaving from Aachen. He was moved from there May 15, 1944, as prisoner number 1840 in the transport, to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp in Oswiecim, Malopolskie, Poland.[6] Victor was killed there July 15, 1944.[4]
