Reuben Everett was living with his mother, Mahala (Unknown, of Virginia)[1] Everett Anderson and his stepfather, Frederick Anderson and two step-brothers, in Campbell Township, Springfield, Greene, Missouri in 1900.[2]

By 1917, he was living with his wife, Janie (Grant),[1] in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she is listed on his World War I Draft Registration, which confirms his birth date.[3]

The last record that we have of Reuben, in 1920 shows he and his wife and his mother-in-law, Julia (Unknown) Grant, in their Tulsa, Oklahoma household.

Other researchers have confirmed that Reuben was a brick mason[1] who was killed in the Tulsa Greenwood Race Massacre.[4][5]

From his FindAGrave memorial:[5]

Reuben Everett, who was black, was a laborer who lived with his wife Jane in a home along Archer Street. Killed by a gun shot wound on the morning of 1 Jun 1921. He is buried in Oaklawn Cemetery.
