Biography

Mary Ernstling was born in March 1881 in Schalenposnick, Poland. She married August Krieger in about 1899 in Russia. They had five children: Lydia, Ted, Roy, Carrie and Julia. She and her children immigrated to Canada in 1913 and met August in Jansen, Saskatchewan. He had arrived in 1910 and was working for local farmers. Their son Bill was born at Esk, Saskatchewan. They farmed in the Jansen area until 1937 when they moved to Beausejour, Manitoba to farm. August died there in 1963.

Mary returned to the Lanigan area. She passed away there in April 1973. She was buried in Esk Lutheran Cemetery, north of Esk.
