Hi Jeanette, I went through a couple of thousand Coetzee records from data I got from the university of Stellenbosch. There is no record of a Maria Jacomina Coetzee in there. Of course although extensive, the document only contain information that was collected/available at the time. Sorry I couldn't help.

Hi Els, could you remove your comment on the project profile page please? The message you sent was to the non-person project profile, which has the following statement: Please don't add posts here; they will be deleted. If you want to add sources of information, please add to the comment boxes on the profiles. This way everybody concerned will be kept updated.

Hi Jeanette

Good start, were the Member How-Tos pages helpful or did they leave you with questions?

Clicking your green tags shows members who follow that tag. Add tags other family surnames, for locations and Interests. The more tags you add the more links to community & research options Information on tags is on page one of the How To pages.

We want to help you learn about the site and the community, hopefully you found the pages and links useful.Well done on making a connection to a project.

Questions click my name and ask in the comment box on my page

Janet ~ Wikitree Messenger - Happy New Year

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree try from the comment section of your profile

A few of your ancestors [you have to work up searching the birth / baptism / marriage & death records of you direct family to link up to them]: Els-236; Janze-3; Willemsz-77. Many of the pre-1700 (and some of the post-1700 profiles) have patronymic surnames. So finding them might be tricky. For the Afrikaans version of the South African Roots portal see this page …

Hi Els, a warm welcome to WikiTree! Many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eigtheenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many have also been validated with primary sources.

A few handy links to get you started:

  1. Getting Started
  2. Adding to WikiTree.
  3. Pre-1700 Quiz (self-certifying in order to understand better how to de pre-1700 genealogical work on WikiTree)
  4. What are duplicates? Why should and how can they be avoided?
  5. G2G Help - for any questions you may have ....

Perhaps you would like to join the South African Roots Project ? Besides useful sources, there help pages that are handy for newcomers to learn more about WikiTree and how everything works around here.

Greetings Jeanette!

I am happy to congratulate you for becoming a full member of the WikiTree community! To help save you time, energy and frustration, please start with our New Member How-To pages.

Click the green Tag on your top right of your profile page and see others following the same things you are researching. The more Tags (20 is the maximum) you add that include locations, periods of history or other genealogical interests, the more links to the community research options.

Welcome to the WikiTree family! Please ask if you have any questions as I am always happy to help.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Greeter

PS If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section of your profile page.
