Biography

Jane Elizabeth Ellison, child of James Ellison, coachman, & Mary Bell, was born on 30 December 1863 on Bamber Street. She was baptised on 24 February 1864 at St Peter's Church in Liverpool, Lancashire, England along with her older sister Margaret.^[1]

In the 1871 census Jane (age 7) was attending school and living with her mother and 3 siblings on Uxbridge Street in Liverpool, West Derby, Lancashire, England.^[2]

In the 1881 census Jane (age 17) was living with her son George (11 months), her parents and sister Margaret at 54 Lowther St, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.^[3]

Her family moved to Birkenhead where her father died in 1888. In the 1891 census Jane (age 27) was the daughter of her widowed Mary Ellison in Tranmere, Cheshire, England. She lived with her mother, son and a lodger. She was employed as the forewoman in a manufacturing plant.^[4]
