The 1840 Wheelers District Census of Wilkes County indicates that Susan was a single parent at that time and until her death sometime after the 1870 census. David McGlamery married Susannah Reed on October 1, 1844 in Gilmer County of the North Georgia mountains. David remained in Glimer, Georgia until his death around 1875. David's mother mentions him in her 1858 Iredell County will and he is on the 1850, 1860, and 1870 Elijay, Gilmer County censuses. He is also mentioned in his brother, Andrew's 1870 Iredell County will. David did not have children with Susannah Reed. Mrs. Reed can be found living as a widow in her son-in-law's home (William Walter Roberson) in the Gilmer 1880 census.
