Biography

Eliza was born in 1810 in Bermondsey, London^[1]. She was the daughter of Simeon Elkington and Elizabeth Colebrook.

Eliza married Thomas Curtis on 21 July 1832 in Bermondsey, Surrey^[2]. They had 5 children^[3] - Eliza, Matilda, Ellen, Louisa, and George Thomas.

Husband Thomas passed away in 1839 and by 1841, Eliza is living by independent means with her three youngest children Matilda, Louisa and George.^[4]

In 1851, Eliza and all her children are living with her mother Elizabeth Elkington and two of Eliza's brothers (Robert and Alfred) at 23 Grange Walk, Bermondsey.^[5]

By 1881, Eliza is living alone at 22 Maregold St, St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey, London and working as a Nurse^[6]

She passed away in 1886.
