MRS. D. N. CASBON

Mrs. Kathryn Claudon, 89, widow of D. N. Claudon, a former Valparaiso resident, died at 3 a.m. today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Elmer Vercler, in Bluffton, O., with whom she had lived for the past five years. She was born in Geneva, Ind., Oct. 4, 1866, the daughter of Henry and Kathryn Egly. She was married to D. N. Claudon March 1, 1891, in Gridley, Ill. He preceded her in death July 7, 1947. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Albert Morehead of New York City, Mrs. Ray Bloch of New York City, Mrs. Oliver Lugibill of Springfield, Ill., Mrs. Clarence Diller of Bluffton, and Mrs. Vercler; two sons, Jess D. Claudon and Joseph H. Claudon, of Valparaiso; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, five brothers and one sister and her parents preceded her in death. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Methodist church in Valparaiso. The Rev. Harvey J. Kieser of Indianapolis and the Rev. Charles M. Smith will officiate jointly. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery, and the grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. Monday until noon Tuesday at Bartholomew Funeral home.
