Floyd Edmonds was born in North Carolina.

Floyd Richard Edmonds was born on 24 Jan 1907 in Surry County, North Carolina to Frank Thomas Edmonds) and Mary Lela Doby Edmonds.[1]

On the 1910 Census he was 3 years old and lived with his parents and sister near the intersection of Eldora and Rockford Roads in Dobson, Surry County, North Carolina.[2]

On the 1920 Census he was 12 years old and lived with his parents and siblings in Dobson, Surry County, North Carolina. His occupation was "farm laborer". He had attended school and was able to read and write.[3]

On the 1930 Census he was 23 years old and lived with his parents and siblings on Harrison Avenue in Tunstall, Pittsylvania County, North Carolina. His occupation was "weaver" in the cotton mill industry.[4]

He was married to Dessie Rena Lemons on 26 Nov 1932 in Danville, Virginia.[5] There is no record of them having any children.

On the 1940 Census he was 33 years old and lived with him wife in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. His occupation was "weaver" and he owned his home. His highest level of education was 2nd year of high school.[6]

On 16 Oct 1940, at the age of 33, he registered for the World War II draft in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina.

He enlisted in the United States Army on 6 Dec 1942 at Camp Croft in Spartanburg, South Carolina. At the time he was 5'7" tall and weighed 128 pounds.[7] During the war he was assigned to the 301st Infantry Regiment, 94th Infantry Division in Europe and made it to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).[8][9]

He was killed in action on 21 Jan 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was buried at the Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial (aka Ardennes American Military Cemetery) in Neuville-en-Condroz, Arrondissement de Liège, Liège, Belgium.[8][9][10][11]
